We have an exquisitely molded and painted Nippon vase marked with the green Morimura 'M' within a wreath, which dates this vase to as early as 1911, and no later than 1921. A matte field of delicate blue and white flowers has been expertly painted against a deepening background of leaves. Gold is liberally applied to the four feet, handles and collar of the vase, and to a ribbon of leaves against a backdrop of gold and black that encircles the body of the vase just at the base of the two handles. The soft curves of the egg-shaped ovoid body end in a very small, gilded neck which then spills over into a softly ruffled, diamond-shaped collar. Our beautiful Nippon vase measures 7-1/4" in height and 15" in circumference at its widest point.
This beautiful Nippon ovoid vase is an exquisitely preserved and serene work of art that has survived the tumultuous landscape of the 20th century.
