Royal Doulton has long produced stoneware and porcelain products that were highly sought after and cherished by a discerning public. It is one of a number of English manufacturers that have consistently produced dinnerware and other products that are of a very high quality.
We have an exceptional set of six (6) Royal Doulton cobalt and gold bread plates in the “Talbot” pattern (V1891), which was manufactured by Royal Doulton from 1937 to 1960. Talbot remains a very popular pattern, but because it was discontinued more than 50 years ago, it has become very difficult to find. Measuring 6-1/8 inches in diameter, these lovely bread plates have a cobalt blue border and rope edge adorned with rich gilding and an inner verge of intertwined leaves and branches. These plates are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing; the gold on the outer rope borders and on the inner verges shows little, if any loss, and there are few, if any, knife marks visible on close inspection. We suspect that these plates were rarely, if ever, used.
The photographs we provide of the Talbot bread plates show the featured plates alone, and also shows them paired as bread or side plates with our gorgeous Fondeville, NY Cobalt and gold dinner plates. We hope that these photos demonstrate how antique, vintage and even modern items can be merged to create an exceptional modern tabletop. Of course, many of the items shown with our Talbot plates are also for sale and are featured on this website.
