We are delighted to offer for purchase our lovely antique porcelain chocolate pot produced more than 100 years ago by the Coiffe Factory in Limoges, France, and painted shortly thereafter at the Blakeman & Henderson decorating studio. Our chocolate pot has two marks on its base: The first mark on the underside of the pot is the 'star' mark (also referred to as Mark 3) --please view our photo -- reveals that this lovely chocolate pot was produced sometime between 1891 and 1914. The second mark was used by the firm of Blakeman & Henderson, a decorating and export company that commissioned high quality porcelain, including dinnerware, from the Limoges region of France in the late 1890s to early 1900s. Needless to say, the second mark supports our dates for production of the chocolate pot between 1891 to 1914.
This beautiful antique porcelain chocolate pot features a lovely design of red currants and leaves just beginning to show fall colors, produced through a combination of transfers and hand painting. The pot has a lovely, soft background painted in tones ranging from cream, to peach, to pastel blue, and the overall satin finish of the chocolate pot is complemented by generous gilding on the handle, the top rim, and the finial. The pot measures 10-3/8" in height from the base to the top of the finial. It stands on a 2 diameter base, and it measures approximately 5-1/2 from the tip of its spout to the furthest point on its handle. Aside from a few small glaze pops a common occurrence during firing - there are no other flaws on this beautiful antique chocolate pot.
Please spend some time reviewing our photographs of this lovely studio painted antique Coiffe Limoges chocolate pot. We think you will agree that it deserves pride of place in your collection!
